I just finished a Dino run on our Formula Vee, 1100cc, 40 hp Volksvagen motor. We pulled the motor out of the racecar for our winter rebuild. The motor had four races on it and needed to be rebuilt. The FV motor is 7:1 compression ratio, push rod overhead valves, air-cooled.
I made a dyno run without the IONIZER PACKAGE. The Dino run confirmed we were down on horsepower.
Without Ionizer at 5,000 rpm = 39.4 hp
With Ionizer at 5,000 rpm = 41.5 hp ~ an increase of 5%
Without Ionizer at 6,000 rpm = 37.8 hp
With Ionizer at 6,000 rpm = 38.5 hp ~ an increase of 2%
(May have been due to a carburetor glitch)
Without Ionizer at 7,000 rpm = 31.6 hp
With Ionizer at 7,000 rpm = 33.2 ~ an increase of 5%.
Temp 60, Pressure 29.4 in., 28% Humidity.
The VW motor normally makes more HP at a lower RPM because of the stock intake manifold we have to use. The 5% improvement with no break-in time is enough to allow me to pass other cars.
I also use the IONIZER system on the '85 Chevy tow truck and my personal toy, a '77 TVR 2500M. Both systems were helped by the IONIZER on fuel mileage and drivability.
